Domaine de la Foret Blanche (The field of the White Forest):


Combining two popular resorts Risoul and Vars, the Domaine de la Foret Blanche provides outstanding views with some of the most expansive skiing in France. A whole range of pistes to suit every level of experience, pistes range from 1850m to 2750m above sea level.

Vars comprises of four villages, only one of which was built as a ski resort (Les Claux), as a result accommodation is often apartments. Fequented mainly by the French, international visitors are thinner on the ground than in other ski resorts which helps to relax the pace of life in this picturesque resort. Risoul is an up and coming resort, providing remarkable value for money and superb skiing for the novice and intermediate skier. Opened in 1977, Risoul was linked to Vars to create Domaine de la Foret Blanche, 174Km of piste. For more information visit the website here http://www.risoul.com/

Apres Ski:

There are a number of restaurants to choose from with reasonably priced menu's ranging from 15 euros for a 3 course meal. Once fed why not relax in one of the Bars of Les Claux, or join the party atmosphere in the lively Discotheque.

Lift passes are redeemable in Vars and Risoul and cost from 27.50 euros for a single day through to 157.00 euros for a full 7 day pass.



From Grenoble
By the N 85 (Route Napoleon) to Gap, then direction Briancon by the main road, RN 94, to Guillestre.
By the N 91 (Col du Lautaret) to Briancon then direction Guillestre by the main road, RN 94.
From Marseille:
By the A 51 motorway to La Saulce, then direction Tallard and Briancon by the main road, RN 94, to Guillestre.


The SNCF train station of Mont-Dauphin, has direct trains from Marseille or Paris. Liaison with the TGV from Paris, Valence, Grenoble or Aix.

Rental accommodation in this area is usually apartments, with the exception of Les Claux where you will probably stay in a purpose built chalet. Accomodation in apartments is usually cheaper with the downfall of having to trek slightly further to get to the lifts.
